Grief Counselling

Losing a loved one is one of the hardest human experiences we can face. Losing family members, friends or even a beloved pet can trigger a painful grief response. Whilst it is of course normal to feel sad & upset when we lose a loved one, some people find that these feelings overwhelm them. Others find that they cannot move forward from the loss, despite many months or years passing. There is no normal response to loss. However if you feel that your feelings are too much to cope with, it may be helpful to talk to a trained professional to have a space to work through these difficult thoughts & feelings.

Counselling & therapy sessions provide a reflective & processing space to make sense of the loss, & our thoughts & feelings about it. Most people work through the stages of grief following a bereavement. These stages include shock, denial, low mood, anger, bargaining & making sense, & acceptance. Whilst many people work through these stages naturally with the support of friends & family, some people find they can get stuck at certain stages. This can happen for many reasons, for example the nature of the loss, experiencing multiple losses at once or ongoing stressful life events that impede processing.

We offer low to moderate intensity level support with counsellors and CBT therapists and high intensity support with psychologists. Our counsellors & psychologists provide a warm, safe & empathic space to explore your feelings and process the loss. We offer face to face sessions in Bristol and South Gloucestershire as well as online sessions. to those across the UK.
